Airfield - Moltens 1 & 2 July 2023

Off again this weekend to Molten Magnets show at the Airfield near Leicester. This proved a cold and blustery weekend with all the club attending apart from Abbie and Willow.

All the teams were seeded low in their respective divisions and as we had too many dogs for 2 teams we had made the decision to move Maggie and Mabel into open competition so were using this as a useful training weekend to see how things went.

Vikings ran on Saturday with Flo, Bonnie, Maggie, Mabel and Charly. Maggie and Mabel shared a spot and although we had a rough start during the afternoon the team posted 3 times in the 22 secs. Maggie and Mabel fitted in well to the team and it didn't seem to faze them at all. They both ran down and back from the box really well and managed to bring the ball back pretty well too, sometimes on the first run. Thanks go to Flo, Bonnie and Charly for supporting the 2 youngsters.

Wash (Indie, Stan, Zarah and Pip) also ran on the Saturday but were well outclassed running against faster teams, however the dogs ran really well posting 7 times in the 19 secs. Stan was back on starts as we had decided to try Indie as anchor dog which worked really well. She posted good times so we will try this again as it seems to suit her.

Brave (Lottie and Naya) ran on Saturday as well and they did brilliantly only missing out on 3 clear runs all day. These dogs are proving to be really enthusiastic and coming along really nicely both posting in the 4 secs and are going to be a boon to the teams they join in the future.

Sunday saw Aztec running with Eddie, Jessie, Bessie and Blue. Once we managed to work out what to do in warm up to stop both Eddie and Jessie running out they ran well all day with the team managing to break out 6 times during the day and posting a fastest time of 19.66 s with massive crosses - to ensure Jessie and Eddie brought the ball back. We are convinced that with practice this team will be fast.... so watch them for the future.

None of the teams were placed over the weekend but we were on a high with the improvements made by all the dogs. Still lots more work to do however but roll on the next outing.
